Converting the slash to "and" is a step towards writing a more complete, more readable article.
It also makes the meaning clear a slash doesn't let us know if the group is alternatively categorized in only one genre then the other, or simultaneously in both. I've edited this article to help it conform to the manual of style certainly, a three-letter word is not hard to read.
